ABOUT

Hi! My name is Prue and I'm the Director of The Dizziness Directive.

I have worked as a physiotherapist for over 15 years and have had a focused practice on vestibular medicine for the past 8 years.

Along with advanced practice in vestibular, I also have advance practice in emergency physiotherapy which is why the service you receive from our clinic is unlike any other. I have a special interest in acute dizziness and work alongside emergency physicians in the emergency department to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment of your vertigo and dizziness.

I graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and obtained a Master in Health Management from University of NSW in 2020. I have completed the Basic (2016) and Advanced (2021) Susan Herdman Vestibular Rehabilitation Competency courses. I have locum in balance clinics at Guys Hospital, London and was selected as a boxing ringside physiotherapist for the 2016 Commonwealth Games. I implemented the first vestibular rehabilitation outpatient service on the Central Coast at Gosford Private Hospital in 2015 during my time as the outpatient rehabilitation senior physiotherapist.

I have published multiple peer review papers on the acute management of BPPV within the emergency department with the Emergency Medicine Australasia Journal and developed a diagnostic algorithm for emergency physicians to utilise in acute dizziness presentations. This work has received awards from international publishing houses and from Central Coast Local Health District and has been cited in international consensus statements and is currently used in emergency departments throughout NSW Health. In addition to these publications, I am a reviewer for the BMC Journal and I have presented at the International Emergency Medicine Conference, National Allied Health Conference and international keynote speaker at the Myanmar Physiotherapy Association with abstracts at Neuro Otology Society of Australia (NOTSA) and Australian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM).

I am an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and committee member of the Advance Practice Group and run training programs in acute dizziness assessment for the APA, local physiotherapists, emergency doctors and NSW Ambulance Service.

On the weekends you will find me with my husband and daughter at the beach or on the rugby field, playing for the Terrigal Trojans or representative duties with Central Coast Rugby Union. My extensive background in representative contact sport has shown me the importance of timely treatment and careful guidance to return to sport following a concussion. This places me as the perfect clinician to guide you through this journey.

If you are interested in starting your own recovery from dizziness please contact me today.
